Kaituruki Cultural Support Worker

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated person to work with our Child & Adolescent Mental Health team in the role of Kaituruki.

This role works as part of our multi-disciplinary team and has the primary function to:

  • Provide assistance to clinical staff and support the clinical care and treatment for tangata whaiora / consumers.
  • Assist Te R.A.M.A to respond in a culturally appropriate and safe manner for Māori tangata whaiora and whānau.
  • Support and facilitate activities and programmes for tangata whaiora / consumers.

You will need to have a sound knowledge of Tikanga Māori and also have a level of fluency in Te Reo Māori. You will also need to have a familiarity with and knowledge of Wairarapa Iwi and Kawa.

This is a permanent part time position working 64 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE), Monday to Friday.

About the Team

Te Ratonga Aranga Mokupuna Arangi Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (TE R.A.M.A. CAMHS), Wairarapa service in the Wairarapa is a progressive team, situated in an area that covers large rural and urban populations. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of Community Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Community Support Workers, Administrators and Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrists, Kaituriki Cultural Support Worker.

We place a strong value on the team culture and ongoing professional development is encouraged and supported. Our service is well supported by the Paediatrics team at Wairarapa Hospital and we work closely with other services such as the Child Development Team, Special Education Services and Oranga Tamariki.
